Horizon and OpenAIRE

Horizon Europe (2021–2027) is the ninth European Union framework programme for funding research and innovation. For more information see the Horizon Europe page or contact the Estonian Research Council.

Horizon 2020

The Horizon 2020 Framework Programme includes the pilot programme “Open Access to Scientific Publications and Research Data in Horizon 2020”.

The participating projects are obliged to submit data management plans, specifying the open data among their datasets. The document included here offers both the applicants and those who have already received support the instructions for data management within Horizon 2020. These instructions explain how researchers should take responsibility for the quality, security and sharing of their research data.

As the data management plan indicates how research data will be managed during the project and after its closure, it is an essential component of all projects which participate in the Horizon 2020 open research data pilot programme and, generally, of all research projects.

OpenAIRE is an e-infrastructure for storing research results produced with the EU support and making research information available via Open Access. Today, OpenAIRE gives access to more than 520 repositories and numerous OA journals, more that 9 million open publications and 1000 datasets, and documents and materials from 50 000 organisations and 30 000 projects.

OpenAIRE Advance project continues the mission of OpenAIRE to support the Open Access/Open Data mandates in Europe. By sustaining the current successful infrastructure, comprised of a human network and robust technical services, it consolidates its achievements while working to shift the momentum among its communities to Open Science, aiming to be a trusted e-Infrastructure within the realms of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). In this next phase, OpenAIRE-Advance strives to empower its National Open Access Desks (NOADs) so they become a pivotal part within their own national data infrastructures, positioning Open Access and Open Science onto national agendas.

Starting from 2009, the UT Library acts as the Estonian NOAD; the UT digital archive on DSpace and the data repository DataDOI are interfaced with the OpenAIRE portal.
